Complete Plumbing Installation for New Homes & Buildings

Building a new home is one of the biggest investments you'll make. The plumbing system behind your walls and under your foundation needs to be installed correctly from day one — because once drywall goes up and concrete is poured, mistakes become expensive problems.

At Old North Plumbing, we specialize in new construction plumbing for custom homes, spec homes, and additions throughout Middlesex, Raleigh, and the surrounding Piedmont region.

We work directly with builders, general contractors, and homeowners to deliver plumbing systems that pass inspection the first time and perform reliably for decades.

The Three Phases of New Construction Plumbing

New construction plumbing happens in distinct phases, each requiring coordination with other trades and careful attention to local building codes.

Under-Slab Rough-In

This is where it all begins. Before the concrete foundation is poured, we install the drain lines, water supply lines, and any other plumbing that will be encased in or beneath the slab. This phase requires precise measurements and careful planning — there's no going back once the concrete sets.

What We Install During Under-Slab:

  • Main sewer line connections

  • Drain lines for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry

  • Water supply stub-ups

  • Bathtub and shower drains positioned to spec

Top Out (Rough-In)

Once the framing is complete, we return to run all the supply and drain lines through the walls, floors, and ceilings. This is the most labor-intensive phase and includes everything that will be hidden once drywall is installed. We coordinate with HVAC and electrical trades to ensure proper placement.

What We Install During Top Out:

  • Hot and cold water supply lines

  • Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping

  • Water heater connections

  • Gas lines for water heaters and appliances

  • Hose bib and outdoor connections

  • Stub-outs for all fixtures

This phase concludes with a rough-in inspection. We schedule and coordinate with local inspectors to keep your project on track.

Trim Out (Finish)

The final phase happens after painting is complete. This is when we install all the visible fixtures and make final connections. We take extra care during trim out to protect finished surfaces and leave the home clean.

What We Install During Trim Out:

  • Toilets, faucets, and showerheads

  • Garbage disposals

  • Dishwasher connections

  • Water heater installation and startup

  • Washing machine hookups

  • Final testing of all fixtures
